Police ExplorersThe leaders of tomorrow, assisting law enforcement today The Police Explorers is a group of young people, ages 14-21, who wish to learn about law enforcement as a possible career. Police Explorers learn about police investigations, how to deal with the public, community service and police skills. The post has several specialty teams such as the color guard, 38-caliber pistol team, police skill competition team, bike patrol and ride-along program. The Tampa Police Explorers program is a mini-police department within the Tampa Police Department. Police Exploring is designed for youth that while in school (9th-12th grades) can maintain a 2.0 GPA and do not have any major discipline problems. They must want to be in the program and are expected to attend meetings and other post activities. The post also has fun trips and outings.
