Jane E. Castor

Assistant Chief of Police- Operations

Assistant Chief Jane CastorAssistant Chief Castor joined the department in February 1984. She has served in a variety of assignments in the Patrol Divisions, Narcotics Bureau, Criminal Investigative Division, Criminal Intelligence Bureau and Administrative Division. She was promoted to Assistant Chief in August of 2005, holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from the University of Tampa where she attended on an athletic scholarship and a Masters of Public Administration from Troy State University. Chief Castor is also a graduate of the FBI's National Academy.

Chief Castor directs the Media Relations Office, and all Patrol District Operations


Major Sophia Teague

Commander - District One

Photo of Major TeagueMajor Sophia Teague joined the department in February 1984. She served the department in Patrol, Field Training, QUAD (Quick Uniform Attack on Drugs) Criminal Investigations, the Administrative Division before being promoted to Major in November of 2005 and becoming the District Two Commander. Major Teague became the District One Commander in June 2008.  She is a graduate of Saint Leo University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Master’s in Business Administration. She also attended the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Senior Leadership program.

Major Teague commands District One which includes South Tampa, West Shore & West Tampa. She is responsible for patrol operations as well as specialty operations such as SAC Squads, QUAD Squads, and the district property crime detective squad.


Major John Bennett

Commander - District Two

Photo of Major Bennett John Bennett joined the Tampa Police Department in November 1984. Major Bennett worked as a patrol officer and Field Training Corporal for twelve years prior to becoming the executive officer to the Chief of Police. He was promoted to Lieutenant and started his career in Special Operations where he has helped pioneer Homeland Security trends in local law enforcement before being promoted to Major in October of 2005 and served as the Special Operations Commander till June 2008 when he assigned as the District Two Commander. Major Bennett holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Major Bennett commands District Two which includes North Tampa & Tampa Palms. He is responsible for patrol operations as well as specialty operations such as SAC Squads, QUAD Squads, and the district property crime detective squad.


Major Gerald Honeywell

Commander - District Three

Photo of Major HoneywellMajor Gerald Honeywell has served the department for 25-years in all three districts, Quad, the Internal Affairs Bureau and District One Division Commander before becoming the District Three commander.  Major Honeywell has been actively involved in the redevelopment of East Tampa. He served on the Public Safety Committee for the East Tampa Community Revitalization Partnership and was a member of the East Tampa Task Force. He is a lifelong Tampa resident, a graduate of Jefferson High School and Tampa College. Major Honeywell served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard before starting his career in law enforcement. He has been married for 16-years to Judge Charlene Honeywell. They have two children.

Major Honeywell commands District Three which includes East Tampa, Ybor City, and downtown Tampa. He is responsible for patrol operations as well as specialty operations such as SAC Squads, QUAD Squads, and the district property crime detective squad.
