Records Section
The Records Section of the Tampa Police Department
provides many services within the Administrative Division. The Records Section
is responsible for the data entry and preparation of reports for reporting
crime to the State of Florida so semi-annual and annual FBI crime data can be
produced for the City of Tampa. All traffic crash reports are entered,
processed and stored in this work area. Wanted information is placed and
cancelled and the information entered into the National Crime computer on
stolen vehicles, tags, missing persons and property with serial numbers. A
"hot sheet" is produced daily to alert department personnel of
stolen vehicles, wanted felons and missing persons while working patrol duty.
Also included in the Records Section is the Validation Unit whose sole
responsibility is the verification of all entries into the Florida and
National Crime computer networks.
