Sensible Sprinkling Irrigation Evaluations
The Tampa Water Department provides free outdoor water evaluations to
help improve the water efficiency of in-ground sprinkler
systems. An evaluation may help reduce landscape water use by 25 percent or
more.

Each year, the Tampa Water Department offers a limited number of FREE Sensible Sprinkling
Irrigation Efficiency Evaluations
to single-family, multi-family and commercial customers using city water for
irrigation.
A Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor will check:

Water distribution
uniformity for each irrigation zone.

Sprinkler
heads for correct size, angle of spray.
-
Whether plants and turf are watered
in separate irrigation zones.

For an
operational rain sensor. If you have an automatic system and no sensor, one
will be installed at no charge.
The Tampa Water Department provides a detailed written evaluation report
that includes:

Recommendations on improving the
efficiency of the sprinkler system and reducing water use.

Seasonal
watering schedules for each irrigation zone.

Alternative
ways to reduce water use, such as reducing turf areas where appropriate,
using micro-irrigation, adding mulch, etc.

A
comprehensive

guide.
Efficient
Irrigation Rebates
Limited
funding may be available to provide rebates to customers who implement
recommendations provided in the evaluation report, such as retrofitting the
system with micro-irrigation or separating irrigation zones that water plant
materials with different water needs.
Evaluation requests are accepted on a first available basis. For more
