Community Development Block Grand and Home Programs

The Community Development Block Grant  and HOME programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Through these programs, HUD provides grants to the city to fund a variety of projects that aid in the development of viable urban communities by reinvesting in housing and physical facilities; public and social services; and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income.

Qualified organizations applying for CDBG funds must be either public or private non-profit entities, incorporated by the State of Florida for at least two years, and have a tax ruling from the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Qualified organizations applying for HOME funds must also be a public or private non-profit entity, incorporated by the State of Florida and have a tax ruling from the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code. Fifteen percent (15%) of the HOME Entitlement is a set-aside for eligible Community Housing Development Organizations. In order to be considered for these funds, a qualified non-profit must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the RFP.
